Introduction
Seed Quality is the possession of seed with required genetic and physical purity that is accompanied with physiological soundness and health status. Quality Seed ensures sound germination, higher vigour, desired plant stand, capacity to withstand adverse conditions and healthy development of plant. Ultimately, it results in higher production & thereby contributes significantly in improving the lives of farming community.
MSSCL has its own Quality Assurance Department & a rigorous Quality Assurance Policy since 1982. Dedicated QA squad monitors seed quality strictly at various levels like Seed Production, Processing & Storage, Marketing & Sales, etc. MSSCL also has Internal Quality Management System & strong belief in continual improvement.
Presently, MSSCL has established three State of Art Seed Testing Laboratories at Akola (1982), Parbhani (1985) and Jalna (2020). These Seed Testing Labs are notified by Government of Maharashtra under Seed Act 1966. Seed Testing Lab, Akola has been honoured with Best Seed Testing Lab in Public Sector by Agriculture Today Group. All the three Labs are strictly adhering to IMSCS Rules. Seed Testing Lab, Akola is also equipped with advance testing facilities like Elisa, Seed Health and DNA fingerprinting. The process to get NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation for Seed Testing Laboratory, Akola has been initiated.
The annual seed testing capacity of these three labs is around 75,000 to 80,000 samples & the tests include Moisture, Physical Purity, Germination, Tetrazolium (TZ), Field Emergence (FE), Genetic Purity & ELISA. MSSCL is also having a well-developed dedicated farm for conducting Grow Out Test (GOT) & Field Emergence Test (FET) with Polyhouse facility for off season Grow Out Test (GOT) at Mahabeej Centre of Excellence, Pailpada.
In all, the MSSCL through its strong quality assurance system ensures the best quality of its products at various levels with the help of seasoned workforce, robust processes & protocols and State of Art Labs. That’s why the MSSCL seeds are popular among the farmers as “Vishwasach Biyane”
